The Cosy Nest in Antibes

Biggest Pluses: Hard to decide...so many pluses, but probably the fact that you are in the dead center of Antibes' old town, full of lively activity...yet your apartment is beautifully quiet 90% of the time (You'll hear the occasional neighbor when windows are open.) Each time you walk out your door, you'll be surprised how central you are, yet in such a peaceful feeling nest.
About the locale: Antibes is both a very Cote D'Azur (full of sun, sea and, in season, tourists and year round, the very very wealthy) and another experience all together. The old city, perched right next to the deepest marina in the Mediterranean has the traditional charm of any medieval town on the coast. In the summer, it's mobbed. On the weekends year round, it's still busy, but pleasantly so. Its daily covered market and countless cafes and restaurants don't close up out of season and many of the patrons are local year round residents. You'll always be rubbing shoulders with the fancy folk, but you'll also find off-season rental here introduces you to very everyday French who also call Antibes home, in addition to a lively population of young people who crew on the countless yachts in the marina.
Who is this place perfect for?: A single person, (with occasional guest) who loves the beach and the old town atmosphere. Someone who wants both peace AND the life of the town

Description

This petite, light-filled apartment is excellent for one person (or a couple accustomed to smaller spaces) It s style is a thoughtful and eclectic one and gives you a sense of the personal touches of the owner, who stays here frequently throughout the year. She shares supplies often missing from typical vacation rental (beach chairs!). It is less than five minutes to the beach, to stores, the daily open market and all of Antibes old town attractions. The apartment has a small comfortable couch and armchair, perfect for watching TV (Netflix, and other streaming services are available if you have an account.) The dining area can double as a work space. The loft is only suitable for smaller people, both because of the loft steps and the height (about tall enough for a 5’6″ person or smaller to SIT. The kitchen is equipped for basic meals. A very serious cook would probably need a bit more equipment. There is no oven but the microwave is a convection one, with the ability to bake, roast, heat, and microwave food). The bathroom is a good one, with one peculiarity which is that the shower is a bit smaller than standard. The bedding is comfortable. The washer is a combination washer/dryer, which is an unusual feature for Europe. At this writing there is a small hum that one can hear only in the sleeping area (coming from a neighboring apartment). It is barely discernible, but in quiet nighttime moments, may require earplugs for light sleepers. The stairs are not, for European old building standards, difficult but they are two full flights with a mild curve to them. Perhaps the best thing about the apartment besides it’s light-filled prettiness is its location. SMACK dab at the entry way to the Old Town, yet amazingly quiet. You can hear the normal level of city noise, but given it’s proximity to restaurants, stores, bars, and bakeries, you are in a peaceful spot. Locks and security work well.

Peculiarities

Small audible hum in the sleeping area. Not audible in any other part of the apartment. No oven, but a microwave which bakes and roasts.. Slightly smaller than a standard American sized shower. Two flights of stairs. Parking: Paid parking available nearby (within 100 yards) at Port Vauban or QPark Pre Aux Pecheurs. Taxis/Ubers can drop off and pick up within about 25 yards of the building entry, but it is a pedestrian-only street and there is no parking immediately adjacent to the building. Very difficult to find free parking nearby. Although, in general, properties on Longer-Stays are nearly always only available in OFF-peak season (i.e. Not June, July, August) , The Cozy Nest is sometimes available for 4-6 weeks at a time from May-August. Please feel free to ask the owner about availability during the busier season.

Pluses

A location that couldn't be better. A sweet, light-filled atmosphere/decor to the apartment. Fiber optic internet. 10 minutes walk to the train station!

How do I book a property?

  1. Contact:  Fill out the form below
  2. Conversation*: when we receive the form, we will contact you to schedule a conversation to make sure both this property and this location are a good match for your priorities and preferences. (Let us know in the form whether you prefer to be contacted by phone or email.)
  3. Match! Once we feel sure that both you and the property owner have an excellent chance of having a positive experience…

*Matching vs. selling: this will NOT be a sales call.  Under no circumstance, during our conversation, are you under any obligation.  We act as a matchmaker and advisor for people wanting to try out the notion of living in France.  We believe a crucial step in that try-out is a longer stay in France, focused on the possibility of a life, vs. a vacation, in France.  We know that many property owners particularly appreciate this ‘longer-staying’ client, particularly in the non-peak seasons.  To understand this “matching vs. selling” approach better, we invite you to become a part of the community, join us on our website,  Finding Your French Town or our Facebook Group. Trying Our France, where our community of France-lovers encourage one another.

Season *
Spring season is roughly from Feb 1 through April 15th. Fall season is roughly Sept 15th through November 15th. We specifically look for property availability in the non-peak season, when owners/managers can offer considerably lower prices
Length of time *
(Longer stays are defined as always more than 30 days and less than 90) Our longer stays are, at a maximum 88 days. The 88 days (vs. 90) is because for many non-EU visitors, 90 days is the maximum stay allowed, and both the travel days to and from France are included in the count, ergo, you would only be staying in the accommodation a maximum of 88 days.
Completing this form also fortifies our Cheaper by the Dozen effect — registering your interest in this property comes with no obligation, but can help us lower the price for everyone.

I started Longer-Stays because I prefer living someplace over touring.  I’ve spent the better part of my life travelling…..and staying.  My idea of hell is packing and repacking a suitcase.  My idea of heaven is finding a spot that suits you perfectly and then learning to know it  — the spot, the locale, the people — in a deeper way.

The main platforms for vacation rentals are all about ‘vacation’, i.e. short-term and are long on superficial checklists and short on deeper connections.  Longer-stays truly wants to matchmake you to your perfect place.  Unless indicated, our descriptions are written by a person who has stayed in the property  (vs. the person marketing the property)  We work hard to give you the full picture, pluses and minuses of the property and the town, included.

So, if you like this property, schedule a conversation with us.  Once we’re sure we’re serving your goals for your longer stay, we happily connect you to your host who you deal with directly.
