Royan is a resort town but a distinguished one, with more style than many resorts. This is a sunny, roomy flat with a large balcony. Royan doesn’t close down as one might expect, outside of June, July August. Two roomy bedrooms, and a good sized kitchen and dining area make up the flat. Furnishings are modern and bright and the apartment is placed equally conveniently (Less than 10 minutes) from stores and the beaches.
One interesting thing about this town is its WWII history. The town was virtually levelled by Allied forces after the Germany army, anticipating an invasion somewhere along the Atlantic coast, was ordered to hold this town at all costs. As a result, nearly every house was levelled in the bombing. The town has rebuilt with a conscious, admirable decision to recreate the town with a distinct architectural style (namely of the 50s.) The house is just a few blocks from the beach. The town’s position at the mouth of the Gironde estuary and consistency of 50s style makes it a town that looks like virtually no other.) If you love the ocean, appreciate 20th century architecture and enjoy a room flat, you’ll love this.
