Studio-Mont-de-Marsan

Biggest Pluses: The river and garden. Directly across from a huge park
About the locale: Mont-de-Marsan is a small city, and a very typical French town. It is not considered a tourist draw, and has relatively few English-speakers. It offers a moderate winter and less wind that other parts of the Southwest. It has a good weekly market and is quite affordable.
Who is this place perfect for?: Single person, independent and interested in living in a working French town

Description

A compact studio with all the basics, plus the lovely extra of use of this riverside garden. This studio apartment is exactly what one expects in a studio: all the basics within an economy of space. The fold-out sofa folds back in for daytime use. The kitchen has a full size refrigerator, a microwave, a stove cooktop, and a clothes washing machine. No oven. There’s an eating counter with bar stools with a microwave. So it’s furnished to allow for light meals (It’s more kitchenette than kitchen.) A modern bath with a shower completes your basics. Out the door and through one gate you are easy walking distance to the town’s commerce, and through another, into the lovely garden right on the river that you share with your friendly hosts.

Peculiarities

This is a small studio and the kitchen is good for light meals but probably not satisfactory for big meals. Ideal for one person, but it can accommodated two. Our guess is two people for a 30 day or more stay would be too tight.

Pluses

Maggie and Davis are wonderful hosts who are happy to be of help. Other pluses: its riverside location, its affordability, its walkability to stores

How do I book a property?

  1. Contact:  Fill out the form below
  2. Conversation*: when we receive the form, we will contact you to schedule a conversation to make sure both this property and this location are a good match for your priorities and preferences. (Let us know in the form whether you prefer to be contacted by phone or email.)
  3. Match! Once we feel sure that both you and the property owner have an excellent chance of having a positive experience…
  4. Go! We connect you directly with the owner. They share availability, prices & details of their booking process.  You book directly with them.

*Matching vs. selling: this will NOT be a sales call.  Under no circumstance, during our conversation, are you under any obligation.  We act as a matchmaker and advisor for people wanting to try out the notion of living in France.  We believe a crucial step in that try-out is a longer stay in France, focused on the possibility of a life, vs. a vacation, in France.  We know that many property owners particularly appreciate this ‘longer-staying’ client, particularly in the non-peak seasons.  To understand this “matching vs. selling” approach better, we invite you to become a part of the community, join us on our website,  Finding Your French Town or our Facebook Group. Trying Our France, where our community of France-lovers encourage one another.

Season *
Spring season is roughly from Feb 1 through April 15th. Fall season is roughly Sept 15th through November 15th. We specifically look for property availability in the non-peak season, when owners/managers can offer considerably lower prices
Length of time *
(Longer stays are defined as always more than 30 days and less than 90) Our longer stays are, at a maximum 88 days. The 88 days (vs. 90) is because for many non-EU visitors, 90 days is the maximum stay allowed, and both the travel days to and from France are included in the count, ergo, you would only be staying in the accommodation a maximum of 88 days.
Completing this form also fortifies our Cheaper by the Dozen effect — registering your interest in this property comes with no obligation, but can help us lower the price for everyone.

I started Longer-Stays because I prefer living someplace over touring.  I’ve spent the better part of my life travelling…..and staying.  My idea of hell is packing and repacking a suitcase.  My idea of heaven is finding a spot that suits you perfectly and then learning to know it  — the spot, the locale, the people — in a deeper way.

The main platforms for vacation rentals are all about ‘vacation’, i.e. short-term and are long on superficial checklists and short on deeper connections.  Longer-stays truly wants to matchmake you to your perfect place.  Unless indicated, our descriptions are written by a person who has stayed in the property  (vs. the person marketing the property)  We work hard to give you the full picture, pluses and minuses of the property and the town, included.

So, if you like this property, schedule a conversation with us.  Once we’re sure we’re serving your goals for your longer stay, we happily connect you to your host who you deal with directly.
