Tucked into a corner that is just perfectly placed to let you see the magnificent square of the Duchy D’Uzes, this apartment is comfortable, convenient and well appointed. Your friendly hostess lives next door. The apartment is up a steep, curving staircase (two flights) but once there, you’ll appreciate the lofty perch for castle-gazing. The terrace is delightful and secluded as well. The entire apartment is thoughtfully and comfortably appointed. The workdesk (right next to the castle-view window in the bedroom) is a nice touch. The furnishing are modern where they need to be and interestingly historical when they don’t — a pretty and old wooden table in the dining room, but excellent mod cons in bathroom and kitchen — are examples of this.

Pluses

Well appointed (except for lack of oven) Decoration feels personal and thoughtful.

Peculiarities

The stairs are steep, and paved with mosaic tiles, which are pretty, but still a rigorous climb. The last step up into the apartment is a steep one. A 72 year old, with bad knees, and a 50K suitcase could do this without help (But she didn't like it.) There is no microwave or oven. You can't drive into up to the entrance (It's in a pedestrian-only zone.) so dropping luggage means parking and putting flashers on and doing a 10 minute quick transfer of suitcases, which with these steps is not the easiest of tasks. Paid parking is not too far off. Free parking is at least a ten minute walk away, and occasionally hard to find. The second bedroom is 1) much smaller and 2) must go through the first bedroom to get to any other room. It functions best as a child's room.
About the locale: Uzes is a uniquely liveable town, whose crown jewel is it's central Place Aux Herbes. Equally memorable is the Duchy d'Uzes (the duke's castle) which you can view from outside your bedroom window. Exquisite architecture, eminently walkable, superb nature nearby, a mix of old & new residents. Only major minus: no train, buses dependable but limited schedules.

I started this enterprise because I prefer living someplace over touring.  I’ve spent the better part of my life travelling…..and staying.  My idea of hell is packing and repacking a suitcase.  My idea of heaven is finding a spot that suits you perfectly and then learning to know it  — the spot, the locale, the people — in a deeper way.

The main platforms for vacation rentals are all about ‘vacation’, i.e. short-term and are long on superficial checklists and short on deeper connections.  I truly want to matchmake you to your perfect place.    We work hard to give you the full picture, pluses and minuses of the property.  So, if you like this property, schedule a conversation with us.  Once we’re sure we’re serving your goals for your longer stay, we happily book this property for you
